Originally founded before the First World War - and re-formed again in 1958 - Wytham Cricket Club play in the village of Wytham, Oxfordshire about 200m from the White Hart. Our continuing youth policy means we now have at least seven players under 45 in the club and our continuing old age policy means that just because you retire does not mean you get out of bowling (ask Chris)! However, we are always on the look out for more players and fixtures - especially Saturday games. If the idea of "friendly" cricket with a good bunch of blokes appeals to you drop us a line. Please note that we have an artificial wicket so non-spiked footwear is essential. We only play "friendly" fixtures - locally and as far as North London. We would welcome contacts for future fixtures (particularly for Saturday) from clubs touring the Midlands and looking for a fixture on their outward or homeward journeys. We usually play 40 overs-a-side, single innings matches at weekends, but we can arrange for a 20 over evening match for on a Friday to suit. To all those Clubs that I have contacted over the winter about fixtures - and then had to make hasty re-arrangements or cancel these fixtures - my apologies and my thanks to those Clubs who have agreed to host us twice because we cannot host them at Wytham. |
